Brooklyn Botanic Garden

1000 Washington Ave. Brooklyn, NY 11225 | Brooklyn | 718-623-7200

Location Description:

Right next to Prospect Park, the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is a verdant escape from the pulsing, postlapsarian havoc of the city. The 52-acre garden is a seductive expanse of wisteria-covered pergolas, towering oaks, flowering crab apple trees, and a vivid palette of exotic flora. Stroll through the Cranford Rose Garden and smell the heady perfume of hybrid tea roses, or walk to the overlook and its panoramic view. The most enticing section of the park is the recently restored Japanese hill and pond framed with weeping willows and a majestic torii that's painted an electric vermilion. The Garden's Steinhardt Conservatory also houses a temperature-controlled rainforest full of banana trees, philodendrons, and other waxy-leafed plants. Take the 2 or the 3 train to the Grand Army Plaza stop. Hours: April-September,Tue-Fri 8am-6pm, Sat & Sun 10am-6pm; October-March, Tue-Fri 8am-4:30pm, Sat & Sun 10am-4:30pm
