Commodore East

97 Beach St. New York, NY 10013 | Soho |

Location Description:

The Commodore proper is one of the most popular bars on the Metropolitan strip of Williamsburg. And they've expanded to the ocean--or, kind of. The bar has established an outpost at the Far Rockaways Beach Club. Called The Commodore East, the small proxy spot doesn’t offer the iced cocktails that are so popular in the 'burg, but it does offer the spicy chicken, nachos, salads and, perhaps best of all, pork boats--pulled pork sandwiches garnished with pickled slaw. The spot is, like the rest of the Beach Club, seasonal--and the hours vary then, too--but when it’s open and it’s a good beach day, a pork boat is just about the best seaside food you can get your hands on. Just make sure you go for a run afterwards. --Shane Barnes
