Location Description:

This wacky spot Dassara Brooklyn Ramen – which is conjoined to a full bar engaged in mixological pursuits – mounts an Asian menu of ramen in Cobble Hill that’s been tweaked with all sorts of bizarre notions. For example, the most publicized product is a bowl of the Japanese noodle soup outfitted with tiny matzo balls and slices of fatty pastrami, making it Jewish-Nipponese. Does it work? It depends on your perspective. Strange and iffy as some of the ramen are, the appetizers are top notch, including steamed buns freighted with unexpected things like fried chicken, and deep-fried strips of nori deployed as chips to go with cross-cultural dips. Surprisingly, seaweed functions as well as tortilla chips in this regard.
