This is the third Brooklyn restaurant from the team that runs Colonie and Gran Electrica, and the young, bold chef Brad McDonald is in the kitchen. Though not every dish here is a home run, we love McDonaldâ€™s thoughtful, fresh approach to regional ingredients, as well as the waterfront location in Dumbo. McDonaldâ€™s adventurous cooking stands out among the city's rustic-chic simulacra of roasted marrow bones, kale salads, and pork belly whatsits. His menu changes constantly, but if you see them, go for the Island Creek oysters, poached in a bright emulsion of lobster roe, or the lamb leg with eggplant puree. The house-made bread and butter are also outstanding.
