Les Ambassades

New York, NY 10026
212-666-0078
Website
Inspired by the great French pastry shops of Dakar, Les Ambassades (“The Embassies”) is a Senegalese restaurant under deep cover. The well prepared food on the marvelously nutty menu runs to French, Italian, Moroccan, and Thai, in addition to West African faves like nems (Vietnamese spring rolls introduced to Senegal in the 1960s) and fataya (mackerel empanadas zapped with chiles). A secret entrée every day is cheb, the national dish, and the halal lamb burger is not to be missed. There are plenty of well spiced vegetarian choices, and, of course, there are French pastries galore.
