Location Description:

This spin-off of a Montreal-style deli in Boerum Hill expands on the sandwich promise of the original. Yes, you can still get a sterling house-cured smoked meat sandwich (the Canadian equivalent of pastrami), and oddities like the mish-mash, Ruth Wilensky, and eggs on a Montreal bagel are still in evidence, but these standards are nearly eclipsed by several enthralling newcomers. Beef on weck reproduces a Buffalo specialty of warm roast beef on a German roll something like a pretzel; while pickled veal tongue consists of glottal organ sliced thin and smeared with onion marmalade on the darkest pumpernickel you’ve ever seen. There’s a chopped liver sandwich, too, and you can side your purchase (eaten standing up at counters) with Brooklyn-style pickled veggies instead of fries.
