Manhattanas oldest house played home and headquarters to George Washington in 1776. Its colonial facade is reminiscent of Savannah, and for those phobic of all states south of the Mason-Dixon Line, this is a safe way to encounter Southern architecture. The most famous resident was Aaron Burr, who married his wife here in the parlor in 1833. Itas only up the A line into Washington Heights, so itas too close for any other excuses. It is rumored to be haunted by Eliza Jumel. Hours: Wed-Sun 10am-4pm, except major holidays.
