Paris Commune - Closed

99 Bank St. New York, NY 10014 | West Village | 212-929-0509

Location Description:

This fashionable French bistro stood on Bleecker Street for 25 years before moving to a corner space on Bank and Greenwich Streets in 2004. It might not be as cozy as before, but it certainly can fit a lot more people. The look is upscale bistro, with traditional design elements like hardwood floors, white tablecloths and red banquettes complemented by modern light fixtures and artwork. The menu is full of crowd-pleasers like steak frites, roasted free-range chicken, duck confit served with roasted potatoes and oyster mushrooms and a burger topped with homemade pickles. The 50-bottle-strong wine list isn't afraid to venture beyond France, with plenty of other European and New World wines, including many available by the glass and half-bottle. You can also order absinthe, served in the traditional way with sugar and a spoon, or one of the many other cocktails including mango mojitos and margaritas made with fresh ginger. Three-course prix fixe menus are served from 5:30pm on during the week ($25) and 7:30pm on during weekends ($30).—Keith Wagstaff
