Peking Duck House

28 Mott St. New York, NY 10013 | Chelsea | 212-227-1810

Location Description:

This Chinatown staple's namesake dish is among the best in the neighborhood. First they fill the bird with air to loosen the skin, then they pour boiling water over it before drying it and eventually roasting it for that crispy skin and tender, fatty meat that have been bringing people here for years. The restaurant has a smart and simple design with white tablecloths, hanging lanterns and hardwood floors. The clientele varies from tourists to suit-clad businessmen to large Chinese families. Duck isn¹t the only thing on the menu; you can also order from a large menu of upscale Chinese dishes including scallops in garlic sauce, a pork chop deep-fried Peking style and lobster with ginger and scallion, plus quite a few noodle and rice dishes. For the full experience, order the Peking duck dinner, which for $27.50 per person gets you soup, appetizers, one whole Peking duck and several entrees.—Keith Wagstaff
