This conceptual project also functions as a working non-profit bike shop, conveniently located in DUMBO and serving the Brooklyn Bridge crowd nicely. The rundown—or, ridedown—is this: used, damaged, or disassembled bike parts are donated, fixed up and fully refurbished, then sold with proceeds going toward youth programs in job training, environmental education, and recycling. All good-doings aside, its serves a community that's ripe for biking, with tons of restaurants and galleries nearby, as well as ample riverfront paths around Brooklyn Bridge Park. If it's too far to peddle, just about every major Manhattan subway line is close.
Recycle-A-Bicycle is a non-profit organization and environmental education initiative that facilitates job training, environmental stewardship, and everyday bicycle use. Bike sales directly support RAB's youth outreach & programming.
