A recent rundown of new upscale burger establishments in Manhattan and Brooklyn left this place the winner--with a solid B plus. Made mainly from ground chuck, the seven-ounce burgers are juicy, meaty, and arrive cooked to order (mine a perfect medium rare, pink and warm in the middle). There are lots of fussy toppings (onion marmalade, homemade mayo, crisp shallots), and patties made from materials other than beef, but the stripped down version with green peppercorn sauce is the one to grab. Homemade mixed-vegetable pickles and diverse milkshakes (everyone seems to love toasted marshmallow) are also worth considering. Open till midnight.
