The Rusty Knot

425 W. St. New York, NY 10007 | West Village | 212-645-5668

Location Description:

The team behind the Spotted Pig opened this nautical-themed bar in 2008, an oasis in an area of the West Village by the Westside Highway that badly needed a casual watering hole. Imagine a cross between someone's sweet '70s basement bachelor pad and grizzled sailor's hangout and you'll have an idea of what this place looks like. Take a seat at one of the cushy vinyl seats looking out onto the Hudson River or cozy up to the small bar and order a tropical drink off of the blackboard. The food is several notches above standard pub fare thanks to Sue Torres, chef of the acclaimed Mexican joint Suenos in Chelsea. The bar's classic pretzel dog is listed on the menu next to Mexican fare like al pastor tacos and crabmeat tostadas. If you're going to eat, it's best to show up early, as scarfing down tacos can be difficult when the classic rock starts bumping and the place gets insanely crowded.—Keith Wagstaff
