Victor's Cafe

236 W. 52nd St. New York, NY 10019 | West 50s | 212-586-7714

Location Description:

Started in 1963 by Cuban immigrant Victor Del Corral, Victor's Cafe 52 has bringing quality authentic Cuban cuisine to Midtown for half a century. Victor's sure is Cuban, and that is not to be taken lightly. It is host to nightly music from super-talented Cuban musicians, serves killer mojitos and sangria among a forest of fake pine trees, and, perhaps most importantly, cooks a spot-on ropa vieja—Victor's signature. The dish, which is a traditional Cuban preparation of skirt steak, is heavily seasoned with garlic and served with tomatoes, onions, and peppers inside a plantain nest. They've got less traditional fare, too, like the filet mignon or the hamburger and chorizo sliders, but overall the menu is extremely heavy on the meat (but not exactly light on the wallet). --Shane Barnes
