Afrika Bambaataa Is DJing Tonight At Brooklyn Masonic Temple
The Loudest Venue in New York meets one of the Godfathers of Hip-Hop tonight at a bizarre but quiet possibly wonderful benefit at Brooklyn Masonic Temple: Along with Afrika Bambaataa and dudes from the Daptone crew spinning vintage-soul 45s, there will also allegedly be a photo booth, a raffle, and, uh, a trampoline.
Welcome to Dance Craze 2010, a benefit for the Fort Greene Park Conservancy -- a ticket will run you $100, alas ($200 if you want access to the champagne soaked pre-party, though Friends of Other Music evidently get a discount), but the cause is certainly worthy, particularly if Fort Greene Park uses the cash to throw more free shows like August's DâM-FunK fete. If you happen to be looking for a charitable cause I can guarantee you this is the only one that will involve Bam playing "Planet Rock" at maximum volume:
