A few years after their record Metro Area made post-Italo disco hot, Metro Area's Darshan Jesrani and Morgan Geist are getting back into the game. Their new monthly (second Saturday), L'Altro Mondo is at Love. But never mind the cuddly little chill-out room that's all nooks and crannies; it's the sparse, rather large dancefloor that is the reason to go. The soundsystem might be the finest in the city, and if they keep booking artists like Metro Area, Love'll save the day. Sat @ 10, Love, 40 W 8th, 212-477-5683; musicislove.net.
Who says the underground doesn't exist? (OK, if it's appearing in your weekly paper, it's not that subterranean). The two most subversive techno parties in the city, Wolf + Lamb and The Bunker, team up with Bushwick Art Projects to host John Tejada. Tejada, a tough techno producer from L.A., is one of those guys who never got super famous, but has had a long, steady career, putting out consistent releases on respected labels like Poker Flat and Plug Research. He spins with Bunker boy Spinoza and W+L at a venue not marred by bottle service or the fools who would be so stupid to pay for such a thing. Sat @ midnight, The Factory, 304 Boerum Street, Bushwick, Bklyn. No phone.
Drum'n'bass is like a futuristic time machine. The headliners for a big jungle party today are the same as the headliners from six years ago. A case of "if ain't broke don't fix it", Direct Drive's Jungle Warfare blowout features favorites like J Makijk Shy FX, who is most famous for "Original Nuttah" and who is one of the reasons the words liquid and funkwere paired together. With Bad Company UK, Raw-Q, DJ Seoul, and Burner Brothers. Saturday @ 10, Avalon, 662 Sixth Ave, 212.807.7780.
