The 2015 version of New York's Alright — the citywide (OK, Manhattan and Brooklyn) punk/hardcore weekend — will be the last one, but the organizers promise they will still "[bring] together some of the best bands in contemporary DIY punk and hardcore from different parts of the world for your mild enjoyment."
You hear that? Mild enjoyment!
The initial lineup for the fest, which goes down April 17–19, is again appropriately New York–heavy, but thankfully includes Sweden's Herätys — a group that broke up just about three years ago, before their planned summer trip to the States — among its international offerings. Ajax, who we named Best Punk Band in our 2014 Best of NYC issue, play twice this year.
Like in 2014, look to Le Poisson Rouge in the Village and ABC No Rio on the Lower East Side for the Manhattan shows.
The promoters write on the Facebook page that's serving as the information hub for the fest that "there will definitely be more unofficial shows done by locals around this time and we will update you when they are confirmed. Advanced ticket links will be posted on February 14th. Locals, we will have tickets for sale at Heaven Street Records (184 Noll Street) in Bushwick. Act fast, we expect shows to sell out quickly."
