Leelou's "Burn Your Houses Down," A Fine Tuesday Morning Pick-Me-Up
The half-life of songs that fly under the collective radar such these days that some tracks can bob around for a long while, gaining fans in a slow, stubborn way. I'm hoping that happens with Leelou's "Burn Your Houses Down," which made my Pazz & Jop ballot last year but which is only getting the official-video treatment now. The video's fairly basic, but the song is still fantastic, a stormy, low-end-heavy bit of goth-pop that's lyrically inspired by a 2009 spending scandal in the UK (her homeland) and that's probably going to inspire many a Siouxsie comparison. (It also has an assist from Tessa Pollitt, formerly of the Slits.) Clip after the jump.
