Lil Wayne, Mötley Crüe, Gaslight Anthem, Das Racist, And Insane Clown Posse Are Playing Bamboozle 2011
The annual multi-day Bamboozle Festival, held every spring in a lovely parking lot or three out at the New Meadowlands Sports Complex, mingles emo punks with metal dudes and crossover-minded rappers, to often hilariously uncomfortable effect: The first day of last year's version was co-headlined by Drake and Paramore, and when the former's set dragged on a little too long, fans of the latter start loudly booing and catcalling, setting rap-rock relations back a few years at least. (Paramore were awesome, by the way.) This year's version promises to be even more chaotic: Your co-headliners are Lil Wayne and Mötley Crüe. Please, lord, don't let these two collaborate.
Of course the big names are only half the fun here -- 100+ bands play this thing, and in this year's finer print we find both old friends (Das Racist! Gaslight Anthem! Big K.R.I.T.! Insane Clown Posse!) and, reliably, some of the dumbest band names around. (Upon a Burning Body! Gatsby's American Dream! Eatmewhileimhot!) It's all coming your way April 29-30 and May 1; deal with tickets here. This is a teenager-heavy affair -- no festival on earth will make you feel older. But know also that this is the T-shirt event of the year . . . last year's most popular sentiment was "Fuck Bieber."
