On the Dream's "Rockin' That Thang"
I love this guy, a love that only grows the more unapologetically corny he is willing to be; "Falsetto" is just barely not a Lonely Island production. His best songs feel like formalist exercises in which he has to write a song using only 100 words -- club/love/all/night/pony/ooooh/ooooh/ooooh/baby. His lack of charisma, paradoxically, is even more appealing; love the fact they have to do bendy camera tricks here just to create the impression he is dancing.
Song's a bit bland, though -- a wan copy of J. Holiday's "Bed," without question the best thing this guy will ever do. T-Pain, as his actual Lonely Island dalliance further proves, has long ago realized he works best as self-parody; the faster Mr. Dream follows suit, the better. Next time just use 50 words.
(I just realized T-Pain sings "Believe me when I say/I fucked a mermaid," hahahah.)
