Photos: Ebony Bones Dressed Like a Champion at Mercury Lounge Last Night
You've got pets? Her too. Hers are dead. All photos by Rebecca Smeyne.
The dependably stylish Ebony Bones stopped by the Mercury Lounge last night and tore things down, fronting an eight-piece band dressed in every shred of neon, bead, and animal print known to man. SOTC photographer Rebecca Smeyne was in the building too. "I Wanna Be Your Dog" and "Another Brick in the Wall" were covered; bottles of J&B were used as instruments and then some. The English firebrand still doesn't have a record out stateside, but it's not like you can't find her on MySpace. Or in New York for that matter--she'll be back February 10th, playing the Hudson Hotel and, three days after that, Southpaw. She even wrote a song called "We'll Always Have NY" which doesn't sound anything like what it actually is to live here! Best homage a city can get right there.
