Premiere: Hear "Jack Smith" By The Avant-Rock Pioneers Supreme Dicks
Later this month Jagjaguwar is going to reissue the complete catalog of Supreme Dicks, an early-college-rock-era, Amherst-based band with a loosely revolving cast of characters and an unabashedly bleak outlook. Sound of the City has a taste of the reissues: an MP3 of the early Supreme Dicks track "Jack Smith," a languorous tune that starts off with delicate finger-picked guitar and eventually crashes into chaos with shards of guitar chords, fall-to-the-floor drumming, and moans. The Supreme Dicks reissues, which come out October 18, are available for preorder now. There's a 4-CD set of the band's complete discography; vinyl fetishists can get their fill with double-LP versions of Supreme Dicks' studio full-lengths, 1993's The Unexamined Life and 1996's The Emotional Plague.
