Still in Love With Him
If James Brown is the Godfather of Soul, and Aretha Franklin is the Queen, then Al Green is without a doubt the most Reverend. He has taken us to the river, asked us to stay together, and always delivered love and happiness. Hes 60 now and still has more beats than most of us. This gospel and r&b singer knows how to put on a show; last year, at B.B. King Blues Club & Grill he commanded a hefty $175 a ticket and sold out. This time around, he performs outdoors at Asser Levy Seaside Park in Brooklyn, and for free (unless you count the $10 youll spend on renting a chair if your tushys too delicate for bleacher-style seating). This first performance in the Seaside Summer Concert Series promises to be a great kickoff to many a steamy musical evening. So lets recapAl Green, outdoors, free. Be there, especially if youre tired of being alone.
