This Weekend! Oneida, Judas Priestess, Kill The Alarm, Psychedelic Horseshit, And The Bellmer Dolls

If there's any chance your reckless behavior will be rewarded with a shiner this weekend, it's gotta be tonight. Oneida (to your left), with (thoughtfully) abrasive rock and destructive, amped-up guitars, will make all gentle souls within a 100-foot radius of the Knitting Factory shake in their boots. Nearby, the self-explanatory Judas Priestess satiate the metal gods with classic headbanger covers at Music Hall of Williamsburg's tribute to David Lee Roth-era Van Halen. Or, take cover at the Bowery Ballroom, where the Wood Brothers' bold blues guitars and gospel-punch vocals raise questions about, um, salvation.

On Saturday, join the appropriately named Kill the Alarm at Mercury Lounge with some steely, soulful '90s-style alt-rock. Steel Phantoms, a pop trio named after the now-defunct Pittsburgh roller coaster, take you on a ride at Shea Stadium with vocals that switch from serenading to hollering to wallflower-mumbling within one song. Finally, Psychedelic Horseshit, best known for its Waaves trashtalking, won't show you any manners at Death by Audio.

As for Sunday, the Bellmer Dolls, a post-punk band named after the oddball German doll-maker, fashion their sound from fragmented beats and emotionally charged, contorted vocals live at CoCo66. Or, Average Girl (three guys, actually, who really dig alt.country) spark a sing-along at Cameo Gallery. Finally, Japanese tech wizards Omodaka spin chirping vocals and computer blips into ear candy at the Bowery Ballroom's Japan Nite, featuring other such imports.
