Amid backlash and company growing pains, Jay-Z — or should we say Jaÿ-Z? — and Tidal have just announced an exclusive concert on May 13 in New York City for subscribers of the streaming service. The venue has not been announced. The show will focus on Hova's B sides, with fans suggesting the setlist by creating a Tidal playlist and sharing it on Twitter. Participating users, who must be at least 18 years of age, will then be entered in a contest to win two free tickets to the show. He might be 45, but Mr. Carter can still reach the kids.

Billed as Jaÿ-Z B-Sides, the upcoming concert is part of Tidal X, a perk of the service that allows artists to perform exclusive concerts for subscribers. Tidal X held its premiere event on April 27, featuring J. Cole, while Jack White performed an intimate, acoustic concert in Fargo, North Dakota, on April 26 that was available exclusively for streaming on Tidal's website.

Earlier that day, Jaÿ-Z took to Twitter to release a "stream of consciousness" where he responded to Tidal naysayers and doubters.

"The iTunes Store wasn't built in a day. It took Spotify 9 years to be successful," he said, referencing Tidal's competitors. "We are human (even Daft Punk ha). We aren't perfect - but we are determined." Jigga organized a majority of the fifteen tweets with the hashtag #TidalFacts, but leave it to the internet to swiftly and sardonically react.

Lifelong fans of Jay might perk up a little at the sight of a throwback gracing the title of Hov's upcoming Tidal X show. On the cover of his 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt, the artist formerly known as Shawn Corey Carter is represented as Jaÿ-Z. The last appearance of the diaeresis in Jaÿ-Z's name was on the '96 Space Jam soundtrack, where he was featured on the R. Kelly track "All of My Days."
