Top 5 Greatest Lily Allen Outbursts

Top 5 Greatest Lily Allen Outbursts

As anyone in her native UK will tell you, Lily Allen has been suffering (or thriving, depending on your perspective) from a lack of filter ever since she emerged with her charisma-laden debut full-length, Alright Still, in 2006. Mouthy, quick-witted and -- as her fellow Londoners would say -- a bit of a smart-arse, Allen's opinionated diatribes and inability to back down from public arguments, have got her into heaps of trouble over the years. So, in celebration of the fact that Sheezus is performing at the Nassau Coliseum with Miley Cyrus this weekend, here are our Top 5 favorite Lily Allen outbursts. 5. Hitting Back at Annoying Critics

After a British reality TV person named Katie Hopkins said of Allen: "I quite liked her when she was singing and kind of interesting and then she... was removing herself from the spotlight because she wanted to be a mother and that largely involved gaining two stone [28 lbs] and looking pretty hideous... She is just famous for having a famous dad," the singer hit back via Twitter, and made Hopkins look like an unreasonable, ignorant douchebag. " I am not famous for having a famous dad, I doubt that most of my fan base have a clue who my father is," Allen began, before explaining, "[My] two pregnancies... were terrifying... and I was pretty much on bed rest for 20 months. I wasn't exercising because I didn't want to take any risks, and, funnily enough, the survival of my children felt more important than being thin. Oh, and whilst 'weighing me up', fat shaming... hey, look I'm on the cover of Elle this month!" That told her!

4. Ranting Mid-Set About Soccer at 2014's Glastonbury Festival

In June, Lily Allen was performing at one of England's biggest festivals, Glastonbury, right when the rest of her country was consumed with the World Cup. Utterly unprompted, Allen decided to go after the head of the International Federation of Football (FIFA), mid-set, saying: "The next song is dedicated to... the most corrupt, annoyingly corrupt, person there is in the world, [FIFA head] Sepp fucking Blatter, you cunt!" Unperturbed that few people knew what the hell she was talking about, she later continued: "I was worried I was going to conflict with an England game in the World Cup... But that didn't happen. Not only because we are shit, but I reckon there's probably a little bit of corruption going on." This is particularly funny, given that her actor father, Keith Allen, sang on a popular English "football" anthem, back in 1998 (called "Vindaloo"). Bet he was thrilled.

3. Bickering With Elton John

In England, Elton John is practically a member of the Royal Family -- he's used to getting his own way, diva-ing up a room when he's not happy and turning an extraordinary level of bitchiness on at the drop of a hat. So pairing him up with Lily Allen to present a GQ Award in 2008 was always going to be a disaster. Allen, for her part, was not on form that night, hitting the stage, clearly intoxicated and transparently unimpressed with the entire affair. John, irritated by her lack of professional sheen, spat out: "What? Are you gonna have another drink?" Lily responded: "Fuck off, Elton. You know what? I'm 40 years younger than you. I've got my whole life ahead of me," to laughs from the audience. This prompted Elton to declare, "I could still snort you under the table." Step too far, Elton. Step too far.

2. The Azealea Banks Twitter Feud

The thing with Lily Allen is: she's not always the one that starts the fight, but she's very quick to fire back when shot at. A year ago, when Azealea Banks attacked Allen out of the blue, Banks took swipes at the singer in a distinctly High School manner, accusing her of being a cocaine addict and calling her husband ugly. Banks soon learned that this was monumentally stupid, when Allen took it as an opportunity to put Banks in her place in a far more cutting manner. "Not even gonna @ her but if she wants to talk about weak, I'm sure her record sales to date should suffice. One hit wonder," Allen Tweeted. "And my husband? Don't go there bitch Or your totally unnecessary security detail may actually have something to worry about #wannabe." Me-ow!

1. Exposing the Music Industry's Upper Echelons

As the video for "Hard Out Here" goes some way to explaining, Lily Allen doesn't think females trying to operate within the music industry have a particularly good time of it. And she'll take any and every opportunity to have a rant about it. "In the music industry, women have always been controlled by male execs, told to do the Kate Moss thing," she told The Guardian late last year. "Keep your mouth shut, or people will laugh at you. They've been talking about us like this for years, basically." Then, just a week ago, more of the same during an interview with the UK's Press Play. "The music industry is run mainly by elder males, and probably when they're trying to justify the amount of money that they make and the power that they wield, it probably sits better with them to be able to assert their power and control over something that they see as weak, and I think they probably see women as being weak." Well, somebody had to say it...
