Watch the New Glam, Grown, and Sexy High Places Video: "The Longest Shadow"
Which you could easily subtitle "Still Life with Mary Pearson," or "High Places Closet Game on Smash." The new High Places single, "The Longest Shadow," is a lovely direction for them--like Blondie's "Rapture" turned lonely instead of coked-out, the band's wonky childishness grown into something more lush and adult. The video, which is basically a bunch of stills of singer Mary Pearson, completely with outfit changes and all sorts of evocative scenery, is the song's logical compliment: glossy and remote but kinda suggestive, all at the same time: High Places vs. Mankind indeed.
