In the week James Murphy finally squashed his beef with our own Michael Musto, we watched as another journalist-on-artist feud--M.I.A. vs. Lynn Hirschberg, who else?--heated up, adding an album cover, a response to a response to a response to a response, and at last a correction to an already bubbling cauldron of agitprop and, yes, truffle-flavored french fries. May we never hear of that particular food group again.

Want to be depressed this weekend? Read about the tragic last days of Gang Starr MC Guru. Want to be uplifted? Try Brandon Soderberg's ode to the fallen Dennis Hopper instead.

Otherwise, we were on our New York shit, pretty much: Chuck Schumer snatched the Jelly Pool Parties out of the fire, again, Lou Reed became a Coney Island mermaid, Bushwick's Party Expo survived a cop raid, BKLYN Yard wasn't so lucky and got shut down by their own landlord, and Irving Plaza reverted at last to...Irving Plaza, even as not 20 blocks to the south, the New Museum danced on CBGB's grave. Just another week out here, basically.

Oh right, and: Ninjasonik's "Somebody Gonna Get Pregnant" art show opened, Conan O'Brien returned to Radio City Music Hall, Fang Island covered Mariah Carey at the Cake Shop, Jay Electronica went to Red Hook to say fuck the police, Dark Disco proved why it's the last Manhattan dance party standing, and Amanda Lepore staged an insufficiently lurid circus-themed extravaganza at Carnival.
