Weekend Concerts: What's Canceled, What's Still Going On, and What's Been Postponed
John Vanderslice: Still playing
We'll be adding to this list as the weekend moves on. On with it...
Crooked Fingers+John Vanderslice Bell House, $15. FRIDAY. Since reuniting with loud and raucous indie rockers Archers of Loaf, Eric Bachmann has been alternating between that group and the band that highlights his quieter, folk-tinged alter ego Crooked Fingers. He's tested himself further on recent tours abroad, playing as a duo or by himself, but tonight he'll play with an expanded Crooked Fingers lineup and transform once again into a moody, heartfelt bandleader. With coheadliner John Vanderslice. -- By Kory Grow
Wisin y Yandel Madison Square Garden, $15 - $144. Saturday. POSTPONED UNTIL FRI, JAN. 18. ALL TICKETS HONORED With P'al Mundo, their fifth album, Puerto Rican reggaeton duo Wisin y Yandel finally struck gold, going triple-platinum on the strength of singles like the muscular "Rakata" and the smooth "Noche de Sexo." This February, when Aventura frontman and "Noche" featured artist Romeo Santos played the Garden, he brought the duo out for a surprise appearance--perhaps they'll return the favor tonight. Can't make this show or don't feel like traveling to midtown? Then head to the Barclays Center on Friday night for a Caribbean extravaganza featuring Machel Montano, Mr. Vegas, Baby Cham, Slick Rick, Alison Hinds, and more. -- By Nick Murray
Dethklok+All That Remains+Machine Head+The Black Dahlia Murder Roseland Ballroom, $47. Saturday. POSTPONED UNTIL DECEMBER 14. TICKETS WILL BE HONORED. Metal bands tend to be cartoonish by nature, but only Dethklok stars in an actual cartoon: Adult Swim's Metalocalypse. But something special happens when transcendentally oafish band members Nathan Explosion, Skwisgaar Skwigelf, Pickles, William Murderface, and Toki Wartooth relocate from the small screen to a big one, and four real musicians--show creator Brendon Small (guitar, vocals), former Frank Zappa stunt guitarist Mike Keneally, Bryan Beller (bass), and Gene Hoglan (drums)--synergize with their meticulously synced animated counterparts, creating an entertainmentgasm of galactic proportions. Collected recently on Dethalbum III, Small's tunes from his show's past few seasons include "I Ejaculate Fire," "Impeach God," and "Crush the Industry." Expect a pop Gesamtkunstwerk on a heady par with The Simpsons simulator ride. -- By Richard Gehr >> Chris Isaac's show tonight at Beacon Theater has been postponed until Nov. 11th. Citizen Cope's Saturday show at the same venue has been postponed until Nov. 24th. Tickets for both shows will be honored.
>> The Grits & Biscuits party set for Saturday at Irving Plaza has been moved to Nov 17.
>> The Sonar on Tour tour featuring Die Antwoord, Azari & III, Seth Troxler, Paul Kalkbrenner, Tiga, and Nic Fanciulli on Sat.at Roseland has been CANCELED.
