2 More Swine Flu Deaths; Schools Open, Close
Nine of the 23 city schools that were closed for suspected swine flu last week are reopening tomorrow -- but six more schools are closing in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Meanwhile two new presumed swine flu deaths in New York have been announced: in addition to Queens Assistant Principal Mitchell Wiener and the still unidentified Queens woman in her 50s, new city health commissioner Thomas Frieden announced a 41-year-old Queens woman and a 34-year-old Brooklyn man suspected of suffering from swine flu died over Memorial Day weekend. Again, "underlying health conditions" were reported and are presumed to have contributed to the effect of the virus.
