20% of Teens Send Nude or Semi-Nude Pix, Study Finds

CosmoGirl.com, in association with the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, wants to encourage teens to "make smart choices." So along with publishing their Sex and Tech survey's findings that 20 percent of teens "have sent/posted nude or semi-nude pictures or video of themselves" (and 11 percent of 13-16 year olds have done so), and 39 percent have sent "suggestive messages," they commendably instruct their young readers, "Don't assume anything you send or post is going to remain private," "There is no changing your mind in cyberspace," etc. and offer parents tips on how to talk to their kids about the issue.

Predictably, out in the wide world even wonkish news outfits report the findings with titillating headlines like ours, blog commenters are huffy ("'Sexting' is about a billion times more clever as a neologism than 'tech sex'"), and religious folk are saying they told you so ("I've posted numerous times on this emerging and alarming trend").

The most reasonable response we've seen ("We've got foolish teenage girls sending naked pics of themselves... it is a warming feeling to know that life is so good that silly stuff like this is considered to be a big crisis") comes from AllNudist, a naturist website.
