A Mighty Wind in Brooklyn
While the Bay Ridge tornado got all the initial press, Mother Nature opened up a major can of whoop-ass on Ditmas Park (aka "Victorian Flatbush") as well.
Just missed that SUV in Ditmas Park.
The hardest-hit stretch appeared to be Rugby Road between Beverly Road and Albemarle Road, and Albemarle from Rugby to Buckingham Road, with numerous smashed cars and trees snapped off like toothpicks.
It was one such tree that shut down service on the B and Q lines for most of the day when it landed on the open-cut tracks south of Church Avenue; service finally resumed a little before three this afternoon.
Killing two cars with one tree.
