Voice Begins 8th Year
The Village Voice begins its eighth year of publication with this issue. The first Voice appeared on newsstands on October 26, 1955.
Barbara Streisand of "I Can Get It for You Wholesale" is the star attraction these evenings at 8th Street's Bon Soir, where she first appeared two years ago as a third-on-the-bill unknown.
Peter Cook, Jonathan Miller, Dudley Moore, and Alan Bennett are "Beyond the Fringe," opening this Saturday at the Golden Theatre on 45th Street.
[Each weekday morning, we post an excerpt from another issue of the Voice, going in order from our oldest archives. Visit our Clip Job archive page to see excerpts back to 1956.]
