Alito Is In. Roe Is . . . ?
The Senate voted today to confirm Judge Samuel Alito to the Supreme Court by a 58-42 margin. Rhode Island's Lincoln Chafee was the only Republican to vote "no." So did Jim Jeffords, the Vermont Republican-turned-independent. Four DemocratsRobert Byrd of West Virginia, North Dakota's Kent Conrad, Tim Johnson of South Dakota, and Nebraska's Ben Nelsonvoted "yes." Here's the vote count:
