Baby Is Literal Accessory to Robbery; NYPD Seeks Suspects
Remember the bouquet bandit? The Darth Vader bank robber? Well, the latest in "ruses to help you steal things" seems to be babies. But this goes against our considerable ethics here at Runnin' Scared. Babies are not accessories! You can't just tote them around on crime sprees like a great handbag!
The NYPD is looking for three people in connection with a robbery at 540 Manhattan Avenue, in Morningside Heights, on September 1. At approximately 1:15 p.m., a twentysomething Hispanic woman carrying a child in her arms knocked on the door to the apartment; when the victim opened, two Hispanic men in their early 20s displayed guns, entered the apartment, and took money and an iPhone before leaving.
The suspects, here in video, were seen exiting a silver BMW prior to the robbery.
Anyone with information in regard to this crime is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
Weirdly, a Google search of 540 Manhattan Avenue turned up the following crime from 1921, in which $25,000 worth of jewelry was stolen an apartment on the second floor of that building. History buffs, check this out. No baby seems to have been involved.
