Balloon Boy Dad Richard Heene Gets 90 Days, Fresh Round of Humiliation
Did you forget about Richard Heene, father/perpetrator of Balloon Boy? We haven't been seeing him on many best-of-the-year lists, but he's back in the national spotlight today, courtesy of a Fort Collins court which just sentenced him to 90 days in jail and four years' probation.
His wife gets 20 days and probation. Heene's lawyer pleaded that she be spared jail time as a "Christmas miracle." "Guess you could call Judge Stephen Schapanski a bit of a Grinch," says E! Online.
The couple's sentences will be staggered so one of them will be home to make anti-pussification videos with them. The parents can still be fined heftily in a hearing yet to come for their fraudulent summoning of government resources in the epic search for the allegedly missing Falcon Heene.
