Barra Argues "Roger Clemens Isn't Barry Bonds"
At the Observer our colleague Allen Barra seeks to make a distinction between the alleged performance-enhancing-drug use of Barry Bonds and that of Roger Clemens. He cites experts like Bob Costas, who argues that "Bonds's numbers took off into the stratosphere after his association with BALCO. All Clemens did was maintain a career that was already on track for the Hall of Fame." Sabermetric analysis seems to bear this out, though one commenter notes that pitchers tend to decline earlier in their careers than hitters, whereas Clemens pitched well into old age. We cling to this argument because we really hate Roger fucking Clemens.
