Bloomberg Defends Israel Stance
Having this weekend visited Israel and strongly backed that country's incursion into Gaza, Mayor Bloomberg has reaffirmed his support, saying "This is one of those clear-cut cases. There's one terrorist organization that says repeatedly we're going to try to kill and maim as many innocent people as we can," and referring to New York's "special relationship with Israel." The Mayor is seen on Fox 5 News, saying in the upper register he traditionally uses to express strong feeling, "You should go over and try to talk to people who live every day worrying about whether their kids are going to go to school and a rocket's gonna come through the roof, where they're gonna get shrapnel fired at them on the way to and from school. How can you sit here and say that they shouldn't do anything?" Meanwhile local protests both against and for the Israeli position persist and local papers continue to report the carnage.
