Bouncer Shot Dead at Forbidden City on Avenue A (Updated)
Though off-duty, Eric Pagan was at the Avenue A club Forbidden City, at which he irregularly worked the door, early Sunday morning, and there is believed to have intervened in a post-closing scuffle outside the club. One of the participants allegedly retrieved a gun from a waiting minivan and shot Pagan dead. Bystanders Salvador Moran and Robert Calbo were injured in the fusillade. The suspect and others fled in the minivan. Pagan, known as "Taz," was well-liked in the area and had been raising two teenagers, their mother having died of cancer in 1995. Police are investigating.
Update: Police picked up Louis Rodriguez on Monday and charged him with the shooting.
