Bromance App to Land With Booming Thud Soon
Is this just a joke with an expensive website? (Ask Hipster!) Buzz and obligatory eye rolls are building online this week in reaction to a forthcoming start-up called Bromance (hello 2007). Twitter says, "Finally, the social network and the real world come together. Follow us for updates and upcoming information on beta, due July 1st, 2011." Finally. There are two tag lines on the website: "The location-based network for dudes that do." Also, "Live, Laugh, Fist-Pump!" Oh, joy.
"Bromance is the fast, fun, and simple way to connect you to other guys nearby with the same likes/interests as you using your iPhone or iPod Touch," we learn. "As a GPS-based mobile app, Bromance uses your iPhone 3g network or iPod touch Wi-Fi signal to identify your physical location so you can chat and network with guys nearby." (Tag: fitness.)
BROMANCE IS NOT SUITED OR INTENDED FOR FAMILY FINDING PURPOSES, FLEET TRACKING, OR ANY OTHER TYPE OF BUSINESS OR ENTERPRISE USE Ð OTHER PRODUCTS EXIST TODAY THAT MAY BE USED SPECIFICALLY FOR THESE PURPOSES.
Your family is not bro enough, dude -- you won't find them here. July 1, let's go.
