Bushed and Gored
Al Gore formally announced his candidacy for the Oval Office last week, and it looks as if he'll go head-to-head with another political legacy, George Bush Jr. What's on your ballot?

If you voted today, Bush or Gore? I wouldn't vote for a candidate from Texas. It's an odd place. Tennessee is a little bit friendlier.
Who would win? Probably Bush. A lot of people would like to get back to what his father was about.
Who else should run? I'd kind of like to see Colin Powell but don't think he ever will. His wife doesn't want him to. But being idealistic, maybe Jack Kevorkian. He's a true American hero.
Which issue is most important to you? Environmental issues. It's not really a key topic as it once was in the '70s and '80s. And gun control. That's why I can't vote for someone from Texas.
Resides: North Bronx
If you voted today, Bush or Gore? Not Bush! I'm not a Republican, that's number one. If I had to choose today, I'd have to vote for Gore.
Who would win? Bush.
Who else should run? I'd like to see a woman. Dole's wife, Elizabeth. She's strong. She might be a Republican, but at least she's a woman. Hillary would also be great. She's brilliant. It really was a copresidency.
Which issue is most important to you? Whoever addresses as many issues for as many people. We live in a diverse society.
Age: mid 30s
Resides: Washington, D.C.
If you voted today, Bush or Gore? That's a tough one. Probably Bush.
Who would win? Apparently the polls say Bush. But it might be 50-50. The polls lie.
Who else should run? Personally, I'd like to stay away as much as possible. Being from D.C., I'm sick of the whole thing and wish everyone would go to hell.
Which issue is most important to you? Not in any particular order: the economy, education, political reform-you know, soft money and all that-and to get a sense that the guy believes what he's presenting.
If you voted today, Bush or Gore? Simply because I hate the Republican Party.
Who would win? Gore.
Who else should run? I'd love to see Mrs. Dole run. I completely respect her, even though she is a Republican.
Which issue is most important to you? Take care of your own backyard before someone else's. Homelessness, gun control, prayer in schools-I'm against that.

If you voted today, Bush or Gore? Bush. Historically, I have a tendency to vote Republican. I believe in Republican ideals-freedom of the individual, reduced government.
Who would win? Bush. Gore is carrying too much baggage from the Clinton scandal.
Who else should run? I like Senator John McCain. He's got the right balance, more centrist. He seems like an honest guy, was a war hero, and he's willing to admit mistakes.
Which issue is most important to you? Taxes. Limit the scope of government. The Department of Education should be abolished.
Resides: Sutton Place
Occupation: Health care
If you voted today, Bush or Gore? Gore. It's more a vote against Bush. And not so much him but against his daddy. I didn't like his foreign policy. I didn't like his position on Jews.
Who would win? I have no idea.
Who else should run? Clinton. He's a sexy guy. I think he was an exceptionally sympathetic figure. He's an oaf and a moron, but sympathetic.
Which issue is most important to you? Foreign policy. Support of Israel. Also education and anyone who is fiscally conservative and socially liberal.
Resides: Flatbush, Brooklyn
Occupation: Administrative aide
If you voted today, Bush or Gore? Gore.
Who would win? I think Gore would. With the rise of police brutality, people would come together to maybe vote for some Democrat.
Who else should run? Hillary Clinton. During the whole scandal, she was the backbone.
Which issue is most important to you? Definitely the issue of police brutality, health care and the status of minorities in America.
