Chelsea Transit Robber On The Loose

In the first incident, on Saturday, August 13 at about 7:30 a.m. at Broadway and West 28th, the suspect went up behind an elderly man as he walked into the entrance to the N train and choked him from behind, snatching his wallet. Then, on Tuesday, August 16 at about 3:45 p.m. at 1178 Broadway near 28th, the suspect followed another elderly man into an elevator in a commercial building and choked him from behind, taking money and a cell phone. The suspect fled on foot in unknown direction. Luckily, the victim wasn't injured.

And on Thursday, August 18 at 2:15 p.m., yet again at Broadway and West 28th Street, the suspect choked another guy from behind as he entered the subway, taking his money. The suspect fled on foot to the west on West 25th Street. No injuries from this one, either.

Finally, this past Sunday, August 21 at 10:08 a.m. at 8th Ave and West 23rd Street, the suspect came up behind another elderly man as he went into the subway, hit him with a blunt object, choked him, and took his wallet. He fled on foot in unknown direction. The victim sustained a damaged trachea.

The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-30s, between 5'5" and 6'0", 220 lbs, bald with a stocky build, and wearing a white T-shirt.
