Cindy Jasmin Says Sister Was Driving Hit-Run Car; Is Released

Cindy Jasmin, owner of the car that ran down city employee Erinn Phelan and her friend Alma Guerrero this weekend, has had that sitdown with police, and police reveal she says her sister did it.

Jasmin, who finally came to the cops yesterday, said her sister Frances was driving the Acura that hit the two women, leaving both hospitalized and one brain-dead.

This is odd, as a witness has identified Jasmin was the woman who announced she'd just had an accident and needed to use the bathroom at a livery cab office near the crash scene just after the time of the crash. Nonetheless police, who took C. Jasmin into custody for a minute, have released her after seeing to it that she paid her outstanding unlicensed-driving ticket.

There's no word yet on the disposition of Frances Jasmin, whom C. Jasmin claims has been hospitalized to recover from the "trauma" of running the women down.
