City Kids Getting All Stabby
A rash of stabbings have been reported around town: NY1 says Christopher Batres, 17, was stabbed by a fellow student at Newtown High School in Flushing this morning -- one Brian Goody, 16, is suspected -- and at the High School for Media and Communications in Washington Heights, a 16-year-old multiply stabbed a 15-year-old. The 16-year-old is in custody. In both cases a steak knife was used.
Brownstoner hears from readers that a 14-year-old got his face slashed as he headed to Brooklyn Tech along Fort Greene Place around 7 a.m.
Yesterday there was a gang fight on the West Side and bystander Leo Perez, 15, got facial cuts requiring 100 stitches, allegedly from another teenager, Isaiah Taitt, a member of the Latin Kings.
We hope this isn't a new teen trend, like bedazzled cell phones and prescription drug abuse.
