Closing Words on a Bad Month: Albany and Suzanne Pleshette
For those who missed it, what better way to end the week and a month of Albany hijinks than to quote from Newsday's Dan Janison, who, while other correspondents saw the world around them plunging toward Armageddon, saw only the stars of a comic opera:
"While defibrilated, the Democratic majority remains fragile... This miserable collective performance will be surrounded by predictably gaseous, self-righteous statements from the parties involved. After the double-conferences, the fake sessions, the lapsed deadlines, the useless negotiations, the Capitol returns to where it was before Dean Skelos' 'defectors' proved too defective for the task.
"You'd expect to see Bob Newhart waking up next to Suzanne Pleshette, though it's not that funny."
