Dominique Strauss-Kahn Resigns From IMF Amid Rape Allegations; Kristin Davis Says He Hired Prostitutes
The Frenchman quit on Wednesday as managing director of the International Monetary Fund, three days after a hotel maid in Manhattan accused him of sexual assault. "It is with infinite sadness that I feel compelled today to present to the Executive Board my resignation from my post of managing director of the IMF," Dominique Strauss-Kahn said in a statement. "I think at this time first of my wife -- whom I love more than anything -- of my children, of my family, of my friends." Strauss-Kahn also took the opportunity to refute the charges against him. "I want to say that I deny with the greatest possible firmness all of the allegations that have been made against me," he said.
While the IMF works to find a replacement, Strauss-Kahn is currently being held without bail on Rikers Island, awaiting a grand jury. At a bail hearing today, his lawyers will try to place him in a confined Manhattan location, instead of jail, where he'd wear an ankle bracelet to track his movements after posting $1 million bail in cash. Strauss-Kahn has waived his extradition rights as part of the bail application.
Meanwhile, the infamous madam and publicity fiend Kristin Davis, of Eliot Spitzer scandal fame, says Strauss-Kahn used her prostitution services back in 2006 and was "aggressive" with one of the women. "When men abuse women I'm no longer going to protect their identities," Davis said somewhat respectably, if we can put aside the possibility that she's lying for attention.
"He wanted an 'All-American girl', with a fresh face, from the mid-West," she told the Daily Telegraph. "A girl in January 2006 complained he was rough and angry, and said she didn't want to see him again."
