When you send a note to someone that reads, "I'm fucking the love of your life, deal with it" it's most likely not going to end well. Especially if they had just bought you a bottle of champagne.
Late Thursday night
, at the swanky SoHo spot W.i.P., the entourages of R&B singer Chris Brown and rapper Drake shared a private room that included, presumably, bottle service to the nine. The story goes that the situation above happened and, after receiving the aggressive note, the two argued over its subject, Rihanna. Soon after, someone from Drake's party (maybe even Drake himself) threw a glass bottle and nailed Brown in the face, leading to a chin injury and ensuing violence.
Although the details are still unclear for the most part, Drake is now being charged
with reckless endangerment. And it's being taken very seriously by the authorities: if he doesn't agree to surrender by next week, the cops might show up to his Jones Beach show tonight and cuff him.
That's not the best scenario for someone's career. But, for a lack of a better phrase, YOLO
On the other hand,
Chris Brown is no longer under as much scrutiny as Drake is: according to the Post
, eyewitness testimony and bloody photos
from sources at the club implicates Drake and his crew, which also included rapper Meek Milli. Because of this, he has been demoted to a "witness and victim" by authorities and is allowed to live forever on the dance floor. Sorry.
This would make more sense for Brown, who is still on probation for his felony conviction of assaulting Rihanna in 2009. However, some witnesses have told police that Brown was hanging with members of the Cripps - a situation that violates his probation (and anyone else's, for that matter). This accusation is tied to accounts that say five gunshots were heard.
At least one thing is for sure: Spurs star Tony Parker was there
. But, regardless of who he was with, Brown's case, just in terms of general morality, is much more appealing than that of Drake.
Here is Brown's account:
"Oh, there's my friend, Drake. Send him over a bottle of champagne to say what's up."
And here is Drake's:
"Thanks... but no thanks for this champagne bottle. Here's a note to show you my gratitude. Better yet, why don't I just throw this bottle back at you?"
Meanwhile, Rihanna showed up to the 40/40 Club last night and didn't seem to make any indication that the two dweebs of her past are acting like schoolchildren over her. But, as the Post points out, she was wearing a tee that read "And if people stare then the people stare."
Does anyone really care though?
