Drunk-Rape Cops Indicted
You may remember the two cops who, back in December, took a vomiting-drunk woman from the taxicab where she had become incapacitated back to her East Village apartment; one of them allegedly raped her (a few times) while the other hung out. Alleged lookout cop Franklin Mata later said his partner, Kenneth Moreno (pictured), and the woman had consensual sex, despite the woman's state. Later Internal Affairs actually got the victim to wear a wire and meet with Moreno, who then allegedly revealed awareness of her extreme drunkenness during their encounter. Later Mata changed his story, investigators say, and indicated that the woman was raped. Apparently the department now feels it has enough to move, and has indicted the two cops on unspecified charges. They'll be in court tomorrow, and are expected to plead not guilty.
