Cops are searching for an elevator rapist in Williamsburg. This scum's M.O. is to hop on an elevator and menace women. At 8 a.m. on New Year's Day in a building on Manhattan Avenue between Seigel and Moore streets, a 63-year-old woman was riding on an elevator when the guy threatened her with a gun, forced her off on the seventh floor and raped her.

A second woman was attacked on January 12 in a nearby building, but she got away from him by screaming and knocking on doors. Tenants complain about the lack of surveillance cameras in the both buildings.

In the latter attack, also at about 8 a.m., the perp entered an elevator in a building on Flushing Avenue near Humboldt Street, told the 49-year-old woman inside that he had a weapon and forced her off on the 15th floor. However, the woman, Sylvie Serra, told NY1:

"I got off and I just started screaming, calling for help and knocking on everyone's door. He said something like, 'I have a weapon.' I didn't care. I just started screaming even louder. I kept on knocking on doors and then finally someone came out and he ran down the stairway. And that's the last time I saw him."

Tipsters can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or submit tips at nypdcrimestoppers.com or text info to 274637 (CRIMES), entering TIP577.
