Far Right Warns Prez on Pick for Canada Post
Bush's nominee for ambassador to Canada, Massachusetts governor and longtime Bush family friend Paul Cellucci, has sparked a firestorm from ideologues on the far right, who are furious over the moderate's support for a sex-ed program aimed at preventing suicide among and violence against gay and lesbian youth.
"President Bush must realize that after eight years of government promotion of homosexuality under Clinton, Americans are yearning for a return to normalcy and decency," said Peter LaBarbera, of the Americans for Truth Project, in a statement quoted by the gay paper Bay Windows. "We will resist any promotion of the idea that it is aceptable, normal, or healthy for men to have sex with men, or women with women."
