Fashion Week: Models Struggle to Take Out 300 Bobby Pins at Falguni and Shane Peacock
Just what is holding that hair in place?
Joan Rivers sat in the front row alongside television personality LaLa Anthony Friday night when Falguni and Shane Peacock debuted their spring 2012 line. They seemed to enjoy the sassy cutouts, asymmetrical silhouettes, and gold accents. But what really caught the eye was the hair and makeup.
Every model had a similar look; gilded eyelids and hair filled with bobby pins. "I wanted the hair to be very flat, and almost as if you couldn't see any hair. It had to be creative, so we used 300 bobby pins on every model and a ton of mousse from Tresemme. Then we tied the turban to finalize the look," explained chief hair stylist, Matthew Curtis.
Although the entire presentation looked exceptional, after the show was over, the models raced backstage to get the 300 bobby pins out. One model needed to have three people assist her because they were in so tight. Another great idea for the runway, but not for the everyday.
